Buddha Circuit Trek
The trip starts from the capital of Kathmandu where you will be visiting the Buddhist landmark, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey temple), from the hilltop overlooking the whole valley. On the second day of tour you will be driving to Dhulikhel which is a small quiet town, known for its traditional crafts,lies 30 km east of Kathmandu from where we will take you for a hike to the famous Namo Buddha.
Also, we visit the ancient city of Patan and Bhaktapur to see architectural masterpieces of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments on the third day. This tour also includes a trip to Lumbini, which is the birth place of Buddha and situated in the Terai plains of southern Nepal.
We will be visiting the nativity site marked by a stone pillar erected by Indian Emperor Ashoka and in the last day of the tours in Kathmandu you will be visiting Kopan monastery and Boundhanth Stupa.
Day 01 Kathmandu Arrival
Upon Arrival in Kathmandu, meet our representative and transfer to the hotel. Introduction and briefing on the
programs. In the evening, we welcome you with a delicious Nepalese dinner and a typical cultural dance show.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 02 Kathmandu City Tour
Visit Kathmandu durbar square, the palace of ancient Malla and then shah kings of Nepal. Places of interest here
are the Kasthamandap, a medival rest house said to give Kathmandu its name, kumari temple, abode of the
virgin goddess, Hanumandhoka a palace of the ancient malla kings and its vicinity. Transfer to Swoyambhunath
stupa, simply called a „Monkey Temple?, on top of a hill overlooking Kathmandu Valley. Visit second city of
Kathmandu, patan itself famous for its arts and crafts. Tour highlights here are the shikhara -style Krishna temple,
Patan Durbar Square with the royal baths, Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, Mahaboudha a Buddhist monastery. From
here, transfer to the Tibetan cultural center first founded by Tibetan refugees of the late fifties and now an
exhibition cum shopping complex for carpets, jewelry, and many interesting souvenirs. Overnight at hotel .
Day 03 Dhulikhel – Namobuddha
Morning excursion to Namobuddha – Famous Buddhist pilgrimage site associated with a miracle. After lunch in
Dhulikhel, drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04 Kathmandu Pharping Monasteries & Chovar
Explore Pharping and various monasteries around. On the way back to Kathmandu from Pharping, visit Chovar,
another shrine. The gash in the hills was made by Manjushree to drain out the lake which once covered
Kathmandu valley.Overnight at hotel.
Day 05 Boudhanath and Kopan Monastery
After breakfast, visit Boudhanath. Boudhanath is possibly the largest stupa in the world and center for Tibetan
school of Buddhism. Later proceed to Kopan Monastery. Kopan Monastery was founded by Lama Yeshe and
Lama Zopa Rimpoche in 1970 as a center of Buddhist Teachings. Meet Senior Lama and orientation on
Buddhism at Kopan Monastery. Lunch will be served (vegetarian). Evening return back to Hotel. Overnight at
Day 06 Kathmandu – Bhairahawa
Fly to Bhairahawa and a short drive to Lumbini. Tour of the Sacred Garden.Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 Lumbini
Excursion to Tilaurakot (25kms) to the west, the ancient capital of Kapilvastu, the Kingdom of the Shakya
Dynasty in which Lord Buddha was born.Tour of Monastery Zone and the L umbini Village.Overnight at hotel.
Day 08 Lumbini-Kathmandu
Fly back to Kathmandu or simply drive overland. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 09 Departure
Free on own until the departure transfer to the airport.
